KeyannaBowen , a Realtor-turned-rental-expert, realized this when she first moved into her rental. “I used to be a Realtor, and there was a common notion that if you do not own a home, you should not invest in it,” Bowen tells Apartment Therapy. The second thing I like to do is change out the light fixtures. And a lot of times – and again, this goes for both, whether you own a home or not, but a lot of times when you’re renting – they’re very generic, builder-type light fixtures.
