Sagopalmsoil requirements include a pH that is nearly neutral – about 6.5 to 7.0. If your soil is either too acidic or too alkaline, apply monthly doses of the appropriate organic fertilizer to your soil. It is best to do this during the growing season. Sagopalm is more closely related to a conifer, and it grows best in warm, humid conditions, and requires four to six hours daily of dappled sunlight, acidic soil, and consistent temperatures. Sagopalms aren’t overly picky about their soil, as long as they have good drainage. A sandy soil that’s somewhat rich in organic matter and slightly acidic to neutral soil pH is ideal.
